Red Light Compliance

When a friend invited me to a show that ended up being in a local church basement, I expected the bands to be of the 8th grade talent show variety. What I didn’t expect was to find was a breath of fresh air that goes by the name of Red Light Compliance. This band knew how to get a basement filled with a mere 30 people clapping and interacting with them while they played their set, and this was admirable. Small crowds can be tough, but they seemed to connect to the crowd with ease. Besides their charming demeanor, Red Light Compliance’s music is full of punchy drums & guitar with a bit of pop thrown in the mix via the lyrics. A lineup change and a name change later, the band’s debut EP, The Write Off, includes 6 tracks that are full of powerful instrumentation and clear, well-calculated vocals. “Down And Out” features a sing-a-long part which got the crowd going live & gave the track that classic pop-punk vibe, while “For The Record” spotlights a guitar solo that will most definitely resonate in your ear. The band also features two vocalists who share lead, which is another unique trait about Red Light Compliance & definitely shows that this band is talented no matter who is singing. Pop-punk bands have become the new “thing” as of late, but Red Light Compliance impressed me with their well thought out musicality & their engaging stage presence. If you want to take a listen to Red Light Compliance, the band has a Facebook Page you can stream a few tracks from, or you can stop by their iTunes. Red Light Compliance is also on the same bill as Never Shout Never & Hit The Lights for the Journey’s Backyard BBQ Tour, so if you live in the Chicago area, make sure you check it out on June 16th!
